Your Live Sport at the Twa Dugs.

27/01/2009 by twadugs

On Tuesday 9 February we start with Live Football as you can watch the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern Area Semi-Final Second-Leg from Brunton Park between Carlisle United and Leeds United. This could be an interesting match as the Cumbrians took a shock 2-1 lead from the First-Leg in Leeds.

At 20.05 it’s Manchester City (again !) v. Bolton Wanderers from the City Of Manchester Stadium.

If you’re still up after that you can watch Piers Morgan In…… Monte Carlo where one of the guests is Scotland’s former Racing Driver David Coulthard.

Wednesday has more Live Football as we have, from Fir Park, Motherwell v. Rangers at 19.45 or, at 20.05, from the Emirates Stadium, North London, it’s ARSEnal v. Liverpool.

If you decided on the boring game, Match Of The Day is on at 22.45 with all the action from a busy Premiership programme.

23.20 brings you the Scottish architectural critic Jonathan Meades:Off-Kilter and he’s on a tour of Fife Football grounds moaning about over-paid footballers. Well that’s new isn’t it ?

Any stragglers can get a bit of PartyPoker.com World Open V at 23.55 but you’ll be gone by 00.15 especially if Rhona’s about !

Like last Thursday, there’s two sport-related programmes on at 21.00. Robson Greene’s Extreme Fishing takes him to Sri Lanka. The Football Years centres on 1982 (the first time I went to the World Cup) and focusses on Scotland heading to Spain. Y Viva Espana ! ‘Til they met Brazil and David Narey toe-poked a goal ! Then you can moan at me during the Quiz.

At 19.30 on Friday we have a choice as you can watch F.A. Cup Preview or A Question Of Sport. I know what I’d be doing as the delectable Sue Barker is joined by Matters and Tuffers in another half-an-hour of fun. They’re joined this week by former Newcastle United Assistant-Manager Iain Dowie, German-born British Paralympic multiple Gold Medal Swimmer Sascha Kindred, Crusaders Rugby League Coach Brian Noble and Sheffield United Player-Coach Gary Speed.

At 00.25 there’s five minute of STV Casino.

Saturday’s a big day of Live Sport but we start with a repeat of Extreme Fishing With Robson Green at 11.00 and he’s in Sri Lanka.

At 12.15 there’s Football Focus or our first Live Football of the day as Aberdeen take on Celtic at Pittodrie.

At 12.30 there’s F.A. Cup Fifth Round action from St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton as the home side face Portsmouth in what should be an awesome South Coast ‘Derby’.

Or, at 12.45, there’s the Championship clash between Swansea City and Newcastle United from The Liberty Stadium.

At 13.00 it’s Michael Johnson:Downhill Skier as the Sprinter takes a look at Skiing and the ‘loons’ who do it.

At 13.45 it’s Rugby Union and the second round of Six Nations matches begin with Wales v. Scotland from the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff.

At 13.55 we begin our Racing and I’ll let you know what Meetings will be covered when I find out.

At 14.30 the Baseball film ‘Field Of Dreams’ is on starring Kevin Costner. Right !

At 16.30 we have France v. Ireland from the Stade De France, Paris in our second Rugby International of the day.

At 16.45, one of our screens will have Sportscene Results with all the news from Scotland and Ingerland.

At 19.30 there’s a Preview of all the action that’s due from the Winter Olympic Games later on tonight.

You have a choice at 23.00 as you can watch F.A. Cup Highlights if you missed the games today or The Football League Show.

There’s STV Casino at 00.00 or SuperCasino at 00.05.

At 00.15 the action starts Live from the Winter Olympic Games as we have Men’s Speed Skating, Men’s Luge (which I love) and Women’s Moguls. The action continues until 05.00 so let’s have a word about lock-ins !!!

If, as expected, we’re thrown out just after 00.30 last night, the Highlights from the Winter Olympics will be on as you walk in on Sunday 14 February.

You have a choice of Live Football at 13.30 as it’s Rangers v. Hibernian from Ibrox Park, West Glasgow or F.A. Cup Fifth Round action from the Reebok Stadium as Bolton Wanderers take on Tottenham Hotspur.

At 19.00 we have Guinness Premiership Rugby with Highlights of the weekend’s action from ‘darn sarf’.

And, in case you missed it all, it’s Match Of The Day 2 at 23.00.

On Monday we have the  overnight Highlights of the Winter Olympic Games at 13.45 when you can see what happened in the Pairs’ Skating, Men’s Luge and Moguls. There’s Live action once again at 23.20 until 05.00 Tuesday morning !

Our Football finishes at 23.45 with Europa Cup Highlights.

Have a look at our Whisky board ! On the left-hand wall, in between the two TVs, we now have a board with  more than sixty whiskys you can enjoy here with the help of that great emporium Rabbie’s Drams in Sandgate. Their age, strength and price per nip are there for all to see. Why not have a wee dram ! If you don’t see the one you want ask as we stock around ninety whiskies now ! And, while were talking about it, why not have your wee dram in one of our ‘Limited Edition’  Twa Dugs Whisky Glasses ? A steal at only three quid !

We currently are supporting our local brewer and have two excellent Ales from the Ayr Brewing Company. You can try Leezy Lundie at 3.8% or there’s a very interesting Jolly Beggars at 4.2%

Look forward to Twa Dugs Ale coming in February from the Ayr Brewing Company. I’ve even donated my Border Collie, Scruffy, to the brew to add extra flavour. Watch this space !

20 February – New Trix (Debut for 2010)

27 February – Electric Warrior (Possibly the most popular band. Well Thomas Le Frenchie likes their costumes !)

DON’T FORGET ! – There’s KARAOKE with Stuart this Sunday evening. Stuart’s playing a lot of Eighties stuff at the moment and we’re getting a lot of punters wandering in for a listen. Remember, it’s your chance to make your name here at the Dug.

The next Quiz will be on Thursday 11 February 2010. We seem to be getting busier as the year progresses and we had seven teams last week.  Our subjects this week will be General Knowledge, Scottish Film Stars, The 1990’s  and your Music will be, for the first time, Reggae ! Let’s see how it all goes on Thursday. Love it !

Welcome to the Twa Dugs Blog.

Here you will find information on upcoming Entertainment each weekend, all the latest Sport on TV, Drinks Promotions, our latest Real Ales and our monthly newsletter, The Dugs Bollocks!

Don’t forget, ‘How Far Is The Nearest Pint ?’, Captain Bob Shields’ Booker Prize-winning autobiography, can still be picked up for two pounds here at the Twa Dugs. If you’re really lucky, he’ll even sign it for you although, of course, that would devalue it because you know how books go down in value if they’ve got scribbling in them.

Please contact padayr@yahoo.co.uk  if you wish clarification of any of the happenings going on at the Twa Dugs !
