Friday 27 November 2009.

On Friday 27 November don your kilt and take part in Ayr’s Great Tartan Turnoot. Set off on a tour of the town led by those kilted musical warriors Clan Wallace and collect Scottish gifts and booze along the way. Starting at Wellingtons Bar at 20.00 where you will pick up a FREE Rabbie Burns T-Shirt (and get a pint), at 20.30 Clan Wallace will start to play and lead you through Wellington Square to Sandgate as you head for your next stop, Bridges Bar.

Arriving at Bridges Bar at approximately 20.45 you pick up your FREE St. Andrew’s Flag (and have another pint). At approximately 21.15 Clan Wallace will start to play again and then lead you along Sandgate to the illuminated Town Hall and then on to the Wallace Tower for the odd photograph. You then proceed to the Tam O’Shanter Inn for a FREE St. Andrew’s Badge and Balloon (and more cider).

At approximately 22.00 Clan Wallace will start to play and lead you down the High Street and into Burns’ Statue Square where they will play a short set. A piper will then begin to play and the Space Flower(?) will be switched on and a Thank You message will be projected. There will then be the release of two hundred and fifty tagged balloons to celebrate the birth of the Great Bard with the prize of Ayr Central Shopping Vouchers for the balloon found furthest away.

Then it’s into the Twa Dugs between 22.30 and 23.00 for FREE Haggis (and more cider) and we will have our Scots-Irish Ceilidh band Broch playing for you. It all ends at closing time at the Twa Dugs !

Note – FREE stuff will only be available to those wearing kilts. Enjoy !

Or, at the same time, you can watch the Four Nations Rugby League Final Live between Australia and Ingerland from Elland Road Stadium, Leeds.

The most important match for the Republic Of Ireland since 2002 is Live from Croke Park, Dublin at 19.45 as they face France in the First-Leg of their World Cup Play-Off.

Interesting little programme at 21.30 as Piers Morgan carries on his Life Story series with a programme on former Welsh International Football Captain Vinnie Jones.

To end a full day of Sport at the Twa Dugs you can catch The Football League Show at 23.05.

Sunday’s a bit quiter for Sport but there’s a lot of it on. If you know what I mean ! When you walk in it’ll be to more action from Wolverhampton as the Grand Slam Of Darts carries on. Apart from a break at 17.00 for an hour you’ve got this all day until 23.00.

How they manage to find half a minute’s coverage is beyond me let alone half an hour.

The big match kicks-off at 20.00 as we bring you Live coverage of France v. Republic Of Ireland from the Stade De France, Paris. This is the second-leg of the World Cup Play-Off and here’s hoping that the boys in green get the right result and I can book my tickets for South Africa next year.

Thursday and Friday are pretty quiet days for us unless you’re a Darts fan. There’s five hours of coverage Live from Wolverhampton of the Grand Slam Of Darts with the action starting at 18.00 on both days.

On Saturday 21 November we start with Motorsport UK at 12.00 from the Rockingham Circuit, Northamptonshire. However, our Football afficionados are covered by Liverpool v.
At 22.00 the film ‘Undisputed’ is on. This might have interest for our followers of Pugilism as it’s about an undefeated Heavyweight Boxing Champion who gets ten years inside. There he has to fight the prison’s top fighter. It stars Peter Falk, Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes.

At 23.20 it’s Sportscene with their weekly look at the Scottish Premier League.

Here you will find information on upcoming Entertainment each weekend, all the latest Sport on TV, Drinks Promotions, our latest Real Ales and our monthly newsletter, The Dugs Bollocks!

Don’t forget, ‘How Far Is The Nearest Pint ?’, Captain Bob Shields’ Booker Prize-winning autobiography, can still be picked up for two pounds here at the Twa Dugs. If you’re really lucky, he’ll even sign it for you although, of course, that would devalue it because you know how books go down in value if they’ve got scribbling in them. **NEWSFLASH – Dateline 6 July. Due to my sterling work at Brunston Castle’s Sunday morning welcome meeting, a couple from Wales travelled all the way to the Twa Dugs to buy a book. The gentleman also had a few drams due to my testimonials. I should be on commission !!!**

Please contact padayr@yahoo.co.uk if you wish clarification of any of the happenings going on at the Twa Dugs !
